Meet Dr. Lam

doctorDr. Peter Lam was born and raised in one of the most fascinating cities in the world - Hong Kong. Growing up in a city that prospers in the service industry, Dr. Lam knows what good customer service is. Fluent in Cantonese and English, he enjoys practicing in a city with great cultural diversity.

As a devout Christian, Dr. Lam actively serves in different ministries at church. He also participated in a variety of community services, from coordinating local health seminars to going on mission trips to Vietnam and China, offering free dental services to the underprivileged.

Dr. Lam stays active and enjoys various sports, including skiing, badminton, tennis and, above all, golf, in which he carries an 11-handicap.

Dr. Lam is married to his wife, Carol, and has two beautiful twin daughters, Gabrielle and Kaela.

Education

doctor2Dr. Lam received his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley. He graduated in the top 5% of the class with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). Having decided to specialize in orthodontics, Dr. Lam received another three years of specialty training and earned his Master of Science Degree and Certificate in Orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

While at UIC, Dr. Lam conducted extensive research on mandibular asymmetry and tomography of the temporomandibular joints. His papers were published in the American Journal of Orthodontics/Dentofacial Orthopedics and the Journal of Dental Research. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics and the California Dental Association. Dr. Lam has been practicing in a group practice for nine years from which he has gained extensive clinical experience.
